Fabulous Fun in Food Technology

Enthusiastic and excited Year 7 students have experienced their first taste of Food Technology at Tahuna!

In their first lesson, students are required to sit a 'Food Technology Licence'. This demonstrates that they understand the safety and hygiene guidelines for the class. Upon passing their licence, students receive their very own hairnet and are able to take part in their first practical lesson!

In the first unit, students learn about safety when working with the stove and they create perfect pancakes.

Students develop an understanding of the design process and are required to brainstorm, complete a concept sketch and write their own recipe for a mini pizza.

The week is then completed with the popular M & M cookies. Alongside the practical skills developed during the week, students are expected to work co-operatively in groups and also gain an understanding of measurement.

It is expected that each student keeps an online record of their learning in their Food and Textiles Technology Learning Journal in their Google drive.
