Taiopeka via Zoom

75 Members of Taiopeka successfully practise over Zoom.

Mrs Rouvi, Mr Tait, Matua Manuel and Ana were joined by 75 members of Taiopeka for a practise this morning.

We started our hui with our Karakia Timata. This was played and sung by Matua Manuel and we all joined in from our bubbles.

Following that Mrs Rouvi took the group through the popular 'Homai tahi, Homai tahi' - Timing was impeccable!

Matua Manuel then shared a Whakatauki with the rōpū. He chose: He waka eke noa - We are all in this together. We talked about how this was in our school haka and was the essence of our rōpū. We also discussed how as a country, Aotearoa people are standing as one in the fight against Covid 19.

Mr Tait took over for some footwork. It was great to see everyone up and moving in unison. This was followed by Ana leading the group in the waiata ringa-ringa Pa mai. Everyone looked as though they were having a lot of fun.

We then heard from our group members. They have been busy completing Anzac activities, bear hunting, spending time with family, and walking the dog. One of our members and her brother are playing The Last Post in their street tomorrow. We wish them all the very best. Lots of our rōpū members will be standing at their letter boxes acknowledging ANZAC day.

The group were given three wero (challenges) to work on over then next week. We look forward to watching the entries and catching up with the rōpū next week at our usual Taiopeka time of 9:45-10:30 over Zoom.

From Taiopeka to our Tahuna community, take care and stay safe.

Kia ora!
