OTAGO BADMINTON REPS

Marissa Oliver and Talia Ogier have been selected to represent Otago at the National Badminton Age Group Competitions in Palmerston North in July.

At Nationals under 13s, 15s, 17s and 19s teams from badminton associations around NZ compete in games of singles, doubles and mixed doubles over 4 days. Marissa will play in the Otago under 15 team and Talia in the Otago under 13 team. Marissa represented Otago in the under 13 team last year while this is Talia’s first time at Nationals.

Marissa and Talia will both be competing in individual Otago and Southland age group competitions in May and June which is good practice for the Nationals in July.

Marissa says the hardest games are singles because there’s no one else to blame if you miss the shuttle. She also enjoys singles most because she gets to hit the shuttle more often. The best thing about Nationals is meeting people from around NZ.

Talia is looking forward to travelling to Nationals and playing against different people. She likes badminton because it is fun and you meet nice people.

Talia and Marissa train twice a week and play in a competition night each week.

If you would like to join badminton or just try it out you can come on Friday 5.00-6.00pm $5 per person (first night FREE) or contact Jim Hoffman 0274113529 or email [email protected]
