Road Safety

With the start of another school year and many students travelling to and from school it is timely to remind our school community to take care on the roads and footpaths around the school.

If you are driving in the vicinity of the school we ask that you take particular care to watch out for our students walking, scootering, skateboarding and biking to and from school as visibility, particularly in the mornings can be difficult for motorists.

We constantly remind our students to abide by sensible road safe rules and have staff present at the beginning and end of the school day. We ask too that you reinforce the road rules with your child, particularly if they are cycling or riding scooters to school.

All Tahuna students who ride their bikes or scooter to school are wearing the High Vis vests which makes them highly visible, especially during the darker mornings and early evenings. High Vis Vests are available to all students who want them.

Skateboarders must wear the Hi Vis vest and have returned the Code of Conduct, signed by a parent/ caregiver, by the end of this week. A licence is issued and certain obligations accompany this. Skateboards have only just been reintroduced to Tahuna and if your child is a skateboarder, (even part time) please ensure they see Mrs Scott for a form to bring home and get signed. Thank you for your support
