ROOM 6 @ CAMP TIROHANGA

In Week4 Room 6 was the first Year 7 class to go camping at Tirohanga.

On the 22nd of February, an excited Year 7class, Room 6, left for our three day camp at Tirohanga.  Twenty-five ecstatic children piled into the bus with their bags loaded underneath.  We were off to Tirohanga!

But, before we arrived at the camp there was a long tramp to complete. The tramp was at the Outram Glen Track and was three  long and very exhausting hours, but we all got there in the end.  Half way through the tramp we were all rewarded with a rest beside the river that was great for their stone skimming competition.  After we had cooled down and had a bite to eat we started off back down the track.

Arriving at camp Room 6 met Matt, Jess and 3 month old baby Noah who are the proud owners of Tirohanga camp.  They gave us an introduction to the camp and some basic safety tips.

Over the next day and a half we completed:

Yabbie Hunting!  The yabbies in the creek were very obliging and a let us capture and release without too much protest.

The Big Wall was a definite highlight.  We managed to get the whole class over the medium wall in 8 minutes!

The Confidence Course was in a nice shady spot so we were not exposed to the glaring sun.

The smaller activities were the log and tyre, grass skis and the big puzzles.

On Wednesday we arrived back at Tahuna, very tired (not that any would admit it)and very pleased with our fantastic three day Camp Tirohanga experience!
