Science homework

By Olivia Bates | Posted: Thursday May 13, 2021

Term 2 is our annual science term. The Year 7's will be working on science fair projects at school and home throughout the term. Students will plan their experiment at school, carryout the experiment at home and work on the presentation at school. We have been doing some fun activities for homework to get us ready. Here are some projects we have been doing for homework this week.

Recycled item- Baby toys

For homework I decided to make a baby toy that was suitable for a 3 year old. I knew that when I was little I loved crunchy things so I grabbed a sock and decided it would be best to get a cracker packet and chop off all the sharp corners so it was child safe. Then I grabbed a big chip packet and shoved all the bits of plastic in it, drew a face, tied a knot and you have Arnold the crunchy baby toy.

Recycled item- Baby toys

For the science homework I decided to make a baby toy for kids 3 and under, it had to be made out of recyclable materials and I could only use three materials. I thought of some different ideas but I decided on making a drum and shaker. I used tin cans, wrapping paper, cardboard and tape to hold it together. It was a fun process to make them and I could find the resources easily.

The eye

For the science homework this week I researched a system in the human body. I chose the sight system and the eye. I researched parts of the eye using the human body book I have. I found the parts of the eye and used the diagram in the book to make a non-scale version of the eye. I left out some of the parts to make it a bit simpler for the people that do not have such a good understanding of the eye. I found some old packaging and some paper and created my own eye.

Part of the assignment was to research the body part and I found out some interesting information. Did you know that 10,000 to 6,000 years ago everyone had brown eyes.
