Tirohanga Day 1

Excitement. Cooking. Glow Worms.

With great excitement came CAMP DAY!! We started off our camp experience with maths and te reo Māori while we waited for the bus to take us out to Tirohanga - the kids weren't overjoyed, but they just got on with it. LOVE THESE KIDS!

The weather was a wee bit misty, showery and cool, but we knew the forecast was mint! On arrival at Tirohanga we completed a loop walk, had lunch, did loads of team building work, drama linking to our ko wai au unit and fun problem solving challenges before the students were let loose on gas cookers (under adult supervision of course...).

The nachos were a massive hit and fuelled us up for the big clean up, camp diary writing, a walk to the glow worms and spotlight.

Best quote of the day was someone who was so excited they were up late, they were beaming and bouncing saying they've never been up this late before... not sure if this was a good thing or a bad thing.

Then into our tents for a well earned rest to get ready for day 2.
