You probably know the teacher Matua Manuel, but what you might not know is that he used to be in the military! over the past few weeks that he has been a teacher in the hub he has shared with us some training that he did while in the military, one of the military-like activities that we do is: step one, find a partner, step two, select one of you to run around the field (or any other large area you have access to) while the other does sit-ups and press-ups, step three, when the one running around the field gets back, the person doing sit-ups and press-ups will do a run around the field and the person who was originally running will do sit-ups and press-ups. This can go on for as long as you want or just until you’re completely out of breath like us. That drill is just training for the real challenge, the block run. These block runs can earn you fitness badges depending on how fast you complete it.

We also learnt some Army drill. If we are lining up outside we will get in our drill lines. We start off standing at ease, hands behind our back, feet shoulder width apart. Then we stand to attention and turn left or right, when we turn we say 1 left right 2. This helps us practice self discipline while working as a team.
