3D Printer

One of the Electives this term has been using a design programme called Sketch Up.

As well as doing drawings  in 3D which are then printed out on paper in 2 Dimensions,  we have been experimenting with creating objects that can then be printed out as a 3 dimensional solid by using the XYZ Printer the school acquired recently.

It is an awesome machine using  fascinating processes and technology that not so long ago would have been considered almost unbelievable.

It takes about thirty minutes to an hour to 'print-out' a fairly small and simple design.  As the term goes on we are going to be creating some pretty cool stuff.

Here are some pictures of models generated by our students, along with a down-hill racer that I have been experimenting with.

In one photo you can see the 'design' loaded up on the printer and a copy of the actual 3D generated product in front.
