Great Start in Year 7!

What a wonderful start to the year.

It has been a wonderful start to 2017 in Year 7 with our new Tahuna students looking fantastic in their uniforms and eager to be involved in whatever is on offer. Many opportunities to sign up for have been on offer over the past two weeks. These include Lit Quiz, volleyball, touch, cricket, waterpolo and music.

Teachers have been working hard to help their classes gel and it has been great to see the students happy and enthusiastic about both their classroom work and getting outside during physical fitness and sports times. All students have settled quickly and appear to be enjoying their Tahuna adventure. Initial assessments are ongoing as a means to ensuring we provide for the learning needs of all our students.

This year all our students will working with our Mandarin teaching assistants and learning Mandarin. This week they have been at their first tech rotations which has been exciting for them.

Camps are the next focus of this term. The first Year 7 camps go out in Week 3 and continue through to the final week of the term. This year our camps are at Tirohanga, Berwick and Sutton and offer our students a wide range of activities and experiences which help to build new relationships with their peers and teacher.

This week the students had a performance from the itinerant music teachers.  If your child is interested in learning to play an instrument while they are at Tahuna please encourage them to get in touch with Mr Breese or fill out the online form.

In a few weeks our major fundraising activity selling chocolates will begin, this is always very successful and the money raised is used to provide ICT resources for our students.

If you have any concerns regarding your child please don't hesitate to contact their teacher and discuss it with them.
