ROCKSHOP BANDQUEST 2015

Every year there is a search for the best NZ primary and intermediate schools rock band, called ROCKSHOP BANDQUEST. Two Tahuna teams did a great job of rocking it out and cementing their place nationally.

Two Tahuna bands which consisted of 6 boys and 2 girls took to the stage on Wednesday night for the annual Rockshop Bandquest competition of 2015 and smashed it! Acoustic Heroes and Rodeo Clowns took to the stage and performed two songs each, which showcased their amazing vocals and musical talents. Ella Caird, Harper Rouvi, Hannah Wybrow and Kiringaua Cassidy of Acoustic Heroes were second up on the night and did a fantastic rendition of a Charlie Puth and Megan Trainor hit - "Mavin Gaye". They got the crowd clapping and joining in which added to their next song; making it a real standout - "Pumped Up Kicks" by Foster the People. They were unfortunate to miss out on awards for the night but judging from the crowds reaction, definitely received the peoples choice.

Rodeo Clowns - Gregor Clarkson, Josh Tuaivii, Keanu Vanisi and Rohan Wingham, the premier winners of the night rocked the crowd with a 90's classic - "Santeria" by Sublime. They followed it up nicely by a smooth introduction to the songwriting abilities by performing their original song - "Judgemental" written by Rohan Wingham. He also collected the Best Overall Musician Award for his silky voice and smooth guitar work, while fellow band member Gregor Clarkson, easily received the award for the Best Bassist. A tremendous effort by Tahuna and the Rodeo Clowns.

Winning the regionals places Rodeo Clowns in the top 12 bands across the country for the competition and enables them to feature in the national finals. This is decided online through a voting site which will occur in late September. Well done to both bands, all the supporters, parents, students and Mr Lousley, Mrs Rouvi, Mrs Coughlin and Mr Waters.
