Chinese Immersion Day 2017

350 students from the Otakou Mandarin Cluster attended the growing event that is Chinese Immersion day on October 18th 2017.

Our largest event yet for our participants in our Mandarin Language Programme was held during the first week back of term 4 here at Tahuna Intermediate.  The event was part of the Chinese Language week celebrations and was a fun, exciting and busy day for everyone involved.

For the event we were again blessed to have such a large turn out (we hope to have every student in the Cluster attend in 2018 - which will exceed 1000 students).  This was made possible through the hard work of ALLiS Team here at Tahuna and 11 MLA that gave their time from throughout Otago and Balclutha.  Many thanks to Otago Girls and the 10 students who came to support us in hosting the event.

We had a range of fun activities including: Lion Dancing, Tai Chi, Tai Ji Fan Dance, Kung Fu, Chinese Instrumental, Tea Ceremony, Dumpling making, Calligraphy, Crafts, paper cutting, and games.  Students were lucky to have Coolaz Catering supply freshly steamed pork buns during the day also.

A big thanks to all the Cluster teachers who attended the event and to every school that was able to come along.  I saw so many faces that were thrilled to be part of the day and we look forward to being even bigger and better nest year.
