New Seismograph in Library

A seismograph is the newest addition to the Tahuna Science Programme.

Tahuna students have been trying their hardest to make the ground shake. The latest lap challenge involved each class trying to create the biggest earthquake in the library. Each class attempt was measured by the new TC1 seismograph. The TC1 is a vertical seismometer with a magnet suspended by a spring inside a copper coil. This measures the ground shaking and causes a tiny electric current to be generated that is sent to the seismograph to be converted into a seismogram.  The students have been really enjoying the challenge of causing but strongest 'Tahuna earthquake.'
