Our Māori Elective group visited the Otago Museum on Friday.

On Friday our Māori Elective group visited the Tāngata Whenua gallery at the Otago Museum.

Once there the students were put into pairs and participated in a Treasure Hunt around the gallery. The  treasure was the knowledge attained when hunting for the clues around the exhibit. This was a fun way to grow in our understanding of Ngā mea Māori.

In our rōpū we have students with a range of knowledge. Some are immersed in Te Reo me Tikanga, others are at the beginning of their journey. All are keen to learn more.

We have also selected Whakatauki that speak to us as individuals. Some of the one's we selected are recorded below. Enjoy.

He Aroha Whatatō He Aroha Putu mai

If kindness is sown then kindness you shall receive

(Rivah & Lani)

He waka eke noa

A canoe we are all in with no exception

(Louisa)

Whaia te iti kahurangi ki te tuohu koe me he maunga teitei

Aim for the highest cloud so that if you miss you will hit a lofty mountain
