Tahuna Students Teach P.E.

A group of Tahuna students have been practicing our Tuakana /Teina Model of  teaching and Learning at Tahuna.

Six students were carefully selected by Mr Owen to be our first 'Student Teachers' for 2015 in our PE programme. They participated in a Coaching session with an Otago Hockey Coach learning the skills they would need to then go on and teach the school. This is a fantastic way for our students to show leadership skills as Tuakana (experts), and our classes the Teina (learners) to learn from their peers.

Room 9 enjoyed their first Hockey Session today where the class learned to 'push' and 'trap' the hockey ball. Then enjoyed using these skills in a fun game to finish called 'Sharks'. The leaders did a fantastic job and we look forward to our second session later on this week.

There are other Sports that students of Tahuna are able to lead PE sessions. If students are interested in this, Mrs Rouvi is the teacher to see.
