Tyson Cup Athletes

A handful of Tahuna students recently represented Otago in athletics.

On the 22nd of March I went down to Invercargill to compete in the Tyson Cup. The Tyson Cup is an athletics competition between Otago and Southland for ages 7-11. Before the competition started we were given 2 ribbons. 1 to swap and 1 to keep. It was really cool meeting new people when we swapped ribbons with Southland.

Here are some places of people at Tahuna:

I came 1st in the 100m sprint. 2nd in the 200m sprint. 3rd in the 400m sprint and 1st in the 4x100m relay.

Holly Cook came 1st in the 4x100m relay. 2nd in the 100m sprint. 3rd in the High Jump and 3rd in the Long Jump.

Petra Milne came 5th in the 400m sprint and 5th in the 1500m.

Everyone really enjoyed themselves and tried really hard. Even though some people were in events that they didn’t want to be in. Then at the end of the day we were told that Otago had won the Tyson Cup.
