Jade Choun, from Room 7, has been selected to contribute artwork to a prestigious journal.
We submitted two of Jade's digital artworks to the New Zealand publication, Toitoi, at the end of last term. Her work was in competition with more than 1000 high quality art and writing submissions from students aged 5 to 13 years. Last week, we got the fantastic news that they had selected Jade as one of the artists for their next issue.
Toitoi were extremely enthusiastic in their feedback regarding her very contemporary style. She will create a new digital artwork to illustrate a poem written by one of the successful student writers.
Jade also submitted an outstanding piece of writing. Toitoi were, again, extremely impressed with what she created, describing her writing as 'sophisticated' but a little challenging for their Year One to Eight student audience. They are very keen for her to submit more of her writing to their next submission round later this month.
Toitoi is distributed to schools throughout New Zealand and is a highly regarded publication, which contains some amazing writing and art from students all over New Zealand. Tahuna has copies in our library.
