Poppies for ANZAC morning

Poppy seedlings are being prepared so that a single poppy can be presented to a veteran or service person on ANZAC morning.

Mr Scoles showing students from Room 14 how to plant poppy seedlings. Room 14 are growing poppy plants so that they can pick 100 poppies and present them to 100 veterans on ANZAC day. It is hoped 100 students can help distribute the poppies. This is seen as a really genuine way for students to learn about our brave service personnel, the history behind the acronym A.N.Z.A.C, and Kiwis at war generally. It is also important for our children to learn how a flower was able to unite so many New Zealanders and Australians.
