Room 9 Tackle the Long Beach Climb

Last week Room 9 set off on their Long Beach Rock Climbing adventure. A big thank you to our parent helpers for helping us out for the day! Fergus tells us about the experience.

On Thursday the 14th of September Room 9, plus a few extras, headed off to Long Beach. We arrived at Long Beach at 9:30 in the morning. We all trudged through the wild wet bushes. To get to the beach and mate it lived up to its name. It was very long.

Our group was climbing first. Josh scurried up the rock face like tiger pouncing on its prey. Next was Max who almost had a panic attack halfway up but made use of his big shoulders and made it to the top. I started my climb. I got half way up and steadied myself for the hardest part. Getting my feet in position I swung through the air. I was a leaping gazelle. I grabbed hold of the rock and scrambled up to the top. Once I got to the ground a sense of relief fluttered over me. I had conquered the rock. Next we all packed up and trotted off back to the carpark in search of Miss Cooper in her natural habitat, cooking sausages on a BBQ. Overall it was a great day out for room nine. Many people were nervous but everyone got to the top of at least one rope. All in all its was good to escape the classroom and get outdoors.
