Otago Science Fair Success

Millie Todd shares her Science Fair journey.......

On Sunday 13th August The Otago Science Fair prize giving was held. Lots of schools were represented and Tahuna had 22 representatives. The event was held in the St David's lecture theatre and went from 3pm - 4pm. There were many award recipients from many schools across Otago with 27 from Tahuna. I received four awards:

1 of 8 premier awards for general excellence, a visual science award from NZ Association of optometrists, a NZ institute of physics award and Dodd-Walls centre for research excellence award for physics related projects.

The process of the prize giving was pretty much the same the whole way through. The speaker would announce the name of the award and then the people and their projects who received them. The recipients would then walk to the front to collect their prize and shake the hand of a representative from one of the sponsors of the awards or Chinese Gary The Dunedin City Councillor.

It was a good experience for everyone for everyone who went along and we all hope to go along next year.
