Tahuna Athletics Day
Athletics day was held on Friday, 20th of October. A chance for our four houses to battle it out for house points and a chance to qualify for South Zones.
The events included long jump, high jump, sprints, long distance, shot put, discus, relay and hurdles. The houses that competed were Takaroa, Tane Mahuta, Mahuika and Tumatueka. I remember the whole school dressing up as their house colours and having an amazing time. Near the end of the day all the houses gathered up and shouted their house chants as a competition to see who was the loudest/best (Mahuika won that by the way). As a school councillor, I am proud to say that everybody was on their top performance, with a total of around 100 Tahuna pupils qualifying for South Zones! Overall I think it was a very successful and action-packed day, not to mention Takaroa house for winning in points AND taking out the final race for sprints (congratulations goes to Izaak & Ngaio for winning their respective races).
