Room 7's Time at Camp Tirohanga

Room 7 in one of the fantastic bivvies they built at camp.

On the 13th of May Room 7 headed off on a 3 hour tramp at Outram Glen before heading off to camp Tirohanga. When we got there we were assigned to our cabins. After a while we went to go and see the mystifying glow worms. Before we got back to camp the adults decided we needed another little surprise. They gave us blindfolds and made us go into the woods with only a rope to take us safely home. Once we got back there was a onesie invasion. There were unicorns, zebras, cows and other strange animals. Preparations for bed started and 6 lonely boys stayed in the cold, damp, treacherous cave known as tents while everyone else was cozy in their cabins.

Thursday came and everybody was up making pancakes, although some groups made crepes more than pancakes. I know my group made a perfect pancake and gave it to Alan. After that everybody went to their rotations. There was grass skis, a climbing wall, a blind line walk and the logs and tyres activity. My first rotation was the climbing wall and thats where only one person in my group (Milo) managed to get to the end of the wall. Then along came Cailin and she totally smashed Milo’s record. Milo just sat there sulking, although he didn’t show much misery, on the inside he was bawling his little heart out. Then came the easy, easy confidence course which was finished in seconds! Night came and it was time for SPOTLIGHT! It went a little fast considering Brodie got it three times in a row, then Ollie got it once and Cailin and then it was game over.

On the next day, our final day the morning flew by.

All in all we had a fantastic time at camp. We would like to thank Alan, Dale, Chopper, Mr J and Miss Stanbridge for coming on camp with Room 7.
