2020 Mandarin at Tahuna Normal Intermediate

Ni hao! Our Mandarin Language Assistants have arrived and are currently in our school undergoing training. They are loving Dunedin and are very excited to be working alongside our students here at Tahuna and within the Otakou Mandarin Cluster.

2020 will be a fantastic year for all students involved in the Mandarin Programme here at Tahuna.  We aim to implement new content and include opportunity to be able to sit a YCT (Youth Chinese Test) during the year.  All three MLA are new to New Zealand.

Jiang Jie has been teaching Chinese full time for three years in Shen Zhen, Guang do province (next to Hong Kong).  "I came to New Zealand as I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and experience some new challenges.  Jiang Lao Shi loves to sing and is an excellent swimmer. She also aims to sharpen her teaching skills in the lovely Dunedin city.

We also have Shen Xingna is enjoying her first overseas experience.  Shen Lao Shi is from Handan in the Hubei province in China.  Shen Lao Shi is an athlete who loves ping pong, watching movies and reading. Also known as Grace she came to New Zealand to meet teachers and students from a new country and hopes to meet new friends.

Li Yulian comes from  Yan Ji in Ji Lin province. This is in north eastern China.  Also known as Ann she says "Yan Ji is very cold and it can be -25 degrees celsius in the heart of winter. Li Lao Shi can speak fluent Korean and loves to travel and take photographs.  Ann came to Dunedin because she really wants to become a teacher to foreigners and believes developing her English skills will be a great asset for her in the future.
