Tuakana leading Hockey

The year 7's have had a very busy few weeks with Camps, Hockey, Mandarin and Music lessons.

Over the past few week the Year 7's have continued to be out enjoying their school camps. It has been great hearing the stories from the children about their camp experiences. Grass skis still appear to be a challenge but a rewarding one when your team can make them move.

There are a few more camps to go out during week 8,9 and 10. Who will no doubt are looking forward to their experiences.

We would like to thank all the parents and caregivers who have given up their time to join us and make camps possible.

P.E lessons have involved Kings Coaches teaching us quick rip rugby. We have also had Otago Hockey in helping our Tuakana lead the hockey lessons.

The Year 7's have been working on their Mandarin lessons. We have been learning Pin Yin, Characters and tones as we learn basic greetings and our numbers. During the first couple of sessions the students got have a go on a Gu gín string instrument.

Music lessons are going fantastically and the students really look forward to their sessions. They have been working on rhythms, singing and reading notation.

It has been great to see so many of the Year 7 teams getting out together and mixing up for Friday sports.
