Maths At Tahuna

Making connections between maths and the real world.......we aim for: rich tasks, materials, open-ended questions, hands-on, teacher not “giving”, developing deep, conceptual understandings,  lots of group work, lots of student to student talk. Here's what some our students think......

This year we have really enjoyed learning maths because we like the hands on activities. When maths is fun it makes it easier to understand and  want to learn.  We enjoy variety and sharing our ideas with partners. It makes us more confident to put our hands up to answer questions. During these activities in the photos we are finding fractions amongst whole fractions, converting fraction into percentages, learning the attributes of shapes and building on our basic facts knowledge.
