Gymnastics Success

Over the past few months we have been competing in gymnastics competitions in order to reach our goal of the New Zealand Gymnastics Championships in October. A few weeks ago we competed in the South Island Champs in Christchurch in order to gain qualifying scores to get into Nationals. Both of us compete in Individual Rhythmic and group Rhythmic routines.

We were excited to find out that our group routines received a qualifying score of 8.5. Which means our whole group of five gets to compete with our routine in Tauranga in October.

Amelia competed individually and received a total qualifying score of 21.65 over her three routines with a minimum qualifying score being 18.

The next stage for us now is to train hard and perfect our routines before Nationals next month. We are flying up with our coaches and team for a week while we compete. Thank goodness this is in the school holidays so we don’t miss out on any school days.

We hope to come back with some shiny medals but overall it will be a great experience as this is the third time we have gone to the national competition which only gets better and better each year.
