Year 7's Term 4 all ready

What a fantastic year the Year 7's have had so far but so much more to come.

Wow it is hard to believe that term 4 is nearly halfway through. The Year 7's have had a busy start to the term with biking and our annual speech contest.

The Year speech contest was held last Friday with an amazing range of topics, from what will the world look like in 20, 30, 50 years to parents are annoying. The students had crafted their speeches well and engaged the audience throughout.  Our winners were Sophia Van Heezik, Maggie Caldwell and William Ashton.  These amazing speeches they will be presented to the whole school in assembly this week.

The Year 7's are busy in their testing weeks and it has been great to see the growth and progress our students have made throughout the year. They should all be very proud of their efforts and success.

In week 6 we will have Dr Haines from the University of Otago coming to teach the students about pulleys and physics. It is great to see the students pulling themselves up to the ceiling of the science lab.

In week 7 we will have our annual Marae Week  based at school. This is a chance for our students to reinforce their Te Reo, and to learn about Tikanaga, associated with a Marae.  Please feel welcome to contact your child's teacher if you would like to help with this week.

In week 8 we will once again be hosting the Otago Polytech as the teachers work through the Vision Programme which Tahuna has been pivotal in development. We look forward to seeing the progress the team from the Polytech has made with this programme.

We conclude our term Moana pool with a fun swim, slide and dive. It has been a fantastic year for our Year 7's who have demonstrated all the Tahuna Values. We look forward to seeing them take on leadership roles in 2020.
