Fair Testing

Crystal making is so much fun!

During class we have tried fair testing in preparation for the science fair. We did our fair test on crystals and decided that our independent variable would be the shape of the pipe cleaners the shapes we chose were a square, a triangle, a line and a circle.

To make the crystal we used borax and hot water and we each mixed it 50 times. After we tied our shape to a popsicle stick we left it in the mixture for 24 hours.

Our hypothesis was that the line would grow the heaviest crystals but to our surprise the triangle grew the most and the line grew the least.

I have really enjoyed doing the crystal fair test and am probably going to make more crystals at home.
