Extension Writing

Each week students meet in groups and produce  inspirational writing.  Aaron shares a piece about the loss of his cat, and Josh writes about moving to New Zealand.

Minky

I was

inside the kitchen

my mum and I

and my cat Minky

whose back legs

he dragged limply

with his tail

lifted high

poo poo pooing

and Minky was

mew mew mewling

like a newborn

kitten

And he lay on

the bean bag

pee pee peeing

his body

spasming

and his mouth

foaming and making

growling

sounds

And my dad lay

beside Minky

weep weep weeping

and my brother was

cry cry crying

and my sister and I

were

tear, tear, teary

and my mother was

holding it together.

And

then

Minky

closed his

eyes

and

never

opened

them

again.

Aaron Hewson

Back in Germany

Under a star

clear night

a taxi is waiting

brum brum brum

for us to go

the light in

the house all turned

off not going to shine

for a while.

We say goodbye to

our dearest animal friend

paw paw pawing

to say goodbye;

laughing and hugging

with friends that come by.

I slowly get in the car.

It's done it's over

the doors are closed

and off we are going

I

look

back

one

more

time

knowing

I

will

never

see

them

again.
