Deputy Principal

Tahuna Normal Intermediate is seeking an innovative and experienced educator to join our leadership team as Deputy Principal. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to our school's ongoing development and success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Design and Implementation: Lead the design, development, and implementation of a future-focused curriculum that inspires and challenges our students and reflects the new curriculum expectations.
  • Normal Schools Work: Play a key role in our Normal Schools programme, providing mentoring and support to trainee teachers, and fostering strong relationships with the University of Otago.
  • Project-Based Learning (PBL): Champion PBL as a key pedagogical approach, leading the implementation and embedding of PBL across the school.
  • Assessment: Oversee the development and implementation of effective assessment practices that support student learning and progress.  
  • Professional Development: Lead and facilitate professional learning opportunities for staff, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement.

Remuneration:

  • 5 Management Units
  • Normal School Allowance
  • Full-time walking, but with some class cover to achieve the goals of the position.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A strong understanding of current educational research and best practice.
  • Experience in curriculum design and implementation.
  • A passion for mentoring and supporting trainee teachers.
  • Expertise or a willingness to learn and lead Project-Based Learning.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Cluster Manager

We're seeking an outstanding individual to lead the Coastal Otago Cluster (Area 39) on behalf of our students, staff, and whānau. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of learners by guiding a dynamic RTLB Cluster.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a NZ registered teacher with current registration
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of RTLB practices, or a willingness to learn, and current educational research
  • Have proven experience in strategic planning, financial management, process improvement, and relationship building
  • Be a skilled communicator, able to build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Show respect for different cultures and a willingness to learn
  • Be committed to collaborative goal-setting and continuous improvement
  • Have high expectations of themselves and others

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead the day-to-day operations of the RTLB Cluster
  • Work closely with principals, schools, the Ministry of Education, and other agencies.

Requirements:

  • Full driver's license and own vehicle.
