Maths in Action

Room 6 Maths class are busy working on Area and Perimeter.

Over the last two weeks Mrs Stuart's maths class has been learning to calculate the area and perimeter of a shape.

Today we measured some tricky shapes that had been masked on the ground of our classroom. We worked out there are two ways to solve these shapes. The first is by measuring each small shapes area and adding them altogether to get the total area of a shape or  calculate the full rectangular shape and take off the parts of it that wouldn't be included.

This hands on activity required us to use calculator, metre rulers and tape measures and our maths books.

It was lots of fun!
