The Ministry of Education requires the Tahuna Normal Intermediate School Board of Trustees to implement an enrolment scheme in accordance with section 11H of the Education Act 1989, to avoid overcrowding at the school.

The Canteen provides food through ordering Monday-Friday. Most food needs to be ordered as it is supplied to the school through outside providers. Students can order in their classroom in the morning. The Canteen is open for sales at lunchtime daily with limited items for sale.
