Recently in New Zealand, we have become more aware of rehabilitating people from prison back into the community. There is an official process that must be undertaken so people in the community concerned are informed of the situation. This means that they can both be supportive and stay safe.

Last week Room 1 travelled out to Long Beach for a day of rock climbing and exploring caves. We were lucky to have beautiful weather and we all enjoyed the experience.

Despite the cold weather this morning we managed to get the sports day finished. Lots of great results and plenty of smiles. Next week we send a team of over 100 students to South Zone. Holly and Abdul took out their respective races for the fastest girl and boy at Tahuna.

Big day today with the extremely fit students making record time to Maori Beach and then on to Port William. We spent over an hour exploring the historical Maori Beach site before carrying on to Port William where the water taxi picked us up.

Awesome guided visit to Ulva Island with DOC Ranger Jen! We were lucky to see lots of the locals and learned heaps. We also visited Rakiura Museum and did an Treasure Hunt/ Orienteering activity. Off to Port William for our tramp tomorrow.

Great week so far on Stewart Island. Plenty of fun and having a good look around. Keen students have even been sampling some local kaimoana. Today was a highlight as we all headed across to Ulva Island to see plenty of the locals.

Easterly winds are not good for fishing charters at Stewart Island so today's programme was postponed. Unfortunately the forecast isn't looking any better. We might have to look for other ways to sample some Blue Cod.

Last night the Tahuna Pasifika groups performed to rousing audiences at the Edgar Centre. The Cook Island group was tutored by Mrs Keni Moeroa and her daughter Sellina Sa'u, who have imparted a very special aspect of Cook Island culture with the students.
