Matauranga Māori Week - Māori Games
This week one of our rotations was learning Māori games.
Our favourite was Maui / Matau which is a rakau game. Children in a circle have to pass the rakau quickly in either direction. The last one left standing wins!
A second favourite was Tapuae. Children are divided into teams and each student has their own zone and job. Rules are similar to netball and there is two kaitiaki guarding three tennis balls.
