Lockdown in our house 2020
Maia Scott Exploring The Outdoors
Our family has been going on daily walks to the Bayfield Inlet because it is only about 1.5km away from our house. Usually when we go it is low tide so we can go down on the rocks and look for crabs and starfish.
We have seen hundreds of crabs in the water, they are everywhere scuttling in the seaweed and on the seafloor. We saw a lot of starfish either attached to the rocks or underneath the rocks. Then we went walking onto the bridge and saw a long, thin transparent barracuda gliding through the water. We stopped and looked at the terns diving into the water trying to catch fish. We managed to spot 4 octopus one day! The inlet definitely has lots of cool inhabitants.
On the fine days, my Dad and I have also been going on bike rides. One day my Mum had heard that there were dolphins in the Harbour, so we biked down and were lucky enough to see about 7 of them. It was really cool. The dolphins jumped out, and then splashed back into the water like they were putting on a show for us. This has definitely been a highlight of the lockdown so far for me.
Busy in the kitchen
In our household we have been watching Nadia's Comfort Kitchen on channel 1 at 4:30pm.The next day we made basically everything that was in the programmes. I made the pizza scrolls for lunch (they were delicious) .
You can see in the pictures me spreading pizza sauce on the rolls, the yeast once it had risen and the finished product. We also made some Easter biscuits and then used 4 different colours to ice them, chocolate, strawberry, blue and lemon icing. The biscuits were shaped as Easter rabbits, angels, hearts and stars. This is me icing them with my two sisters and brother..some us definitely used more icing than others.
We made Nadia Lim’s panna cotta for dessert after eating a yummy Italian Gnocchi for the main course. We served the panna cotta with berries and passionfruit on top, it was scrumptious.
