Year 7's

A great start to the term.

The Year 7's have started swimming this week and will have seven lessons at Moana Pool. Check out their survival skills penguin huddle. Students are having a 30 minute lesson with JustSwim followed by deep water and kayaking lessons. It was fantastic to see the children being tipped over in the kayaking and getting use to the rolling motion.

Our Dunedin Histories study has started well this term with the Year 7's looking at how Polynesian navigators undertook blue water sailing as they charted and explored the Pacific.

The children have been busy making models of waka hauora, star compass, survival compasses and many other models to develop their skills and knowledge in preparation for our end of term museum gallery.

Over the next few weeks the Year 7's will be heading out and about to investigate aspects of Dunedin Histories, where will their wonderings taken them?

If you have a passion about an aspect of Dunedin's history and would like to share please get in contact with your child's classroom teacher.
