Aotearoa Histories
We've been busy over the last few weeks honing our research, investigative and summarising skills to uncover significant moments in our nation's past.
With the arrival of the new Aotearoa New Zealand Histories Curriculum in our classrooms it is a good time to establish a historical thinking approach that fosters critical analysis while at the same time encouraging students to examine historical perspectives.
Each story introduced to a range of perspectives, a breadth of sources and expose your students to photos, documents, maps, national archives, museums, oral and social histories and digital store houses.
The deep thinking it has already inspired is a pure joy to witness. It's not often you have every member of your class engaged, supporting each other and not being afraid to take risks. Can't wait to see where this treasure hunt takes us.
I can't wait to read the student's reports.
