Off to the Nationals!
Regionals for Aerobics were held on Saturday 8th and Sunday the 9th of August. It was held at the Kings and Queens Performing Arts Centre. Those competing from Tahuna included Amaya Leslie, Jessica Scott,Ruby Cameron, Amberly Orr, Emily MCLennan, Wairaamia Taratoa-Bannister and Me (Nelia McDowall).
On the Saturday everyone arrived to get ready at the Kings Gym. The hairspray came out and the leotards,makeup,socks and the crisp white aerobics shoes. Once we were ready we went and warmed up in the Kings Gym with our coach Kerry Hockley-Remon. Then it was time for us to go over to the auditorium for qualifying day. We all qualified for the final the next day.
On Sunday we did our routines once more and then we had to wait for a few hours until prize giving when the results were announced. Amaya was first I was second and Abby from Balmacewen came third. Ruby came fourth and Jess came fifth and Amberly came sixth. The top five place getters have qualified to go to Nationals in Wellington on Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th of September.
Otago Regionals:
Amaya Leslie: 1st place in Intermediate Individual
Nelia McDowall: 2nd place in Intermediate Individual
Ruby Cameron: 4th place in Intermediate Individual
Jessica Scott: 5th place in Intermediate Individual
Emily McLennan and Wairaamia Taratoa-Bannister "Double Trouble": 1st place in Intermediate Teams
Southland Regionals:
Ali Bloem: 1st place in Intermediate Individual. Ali was not able to compete at Otago Regionals due to a gym competition, but competed at Southland Regionals in a section of 19 competitors and of a very high standard.
All the girls qualified for Nationals on the 19th/20th September in Wellington.
