Tahuna off to Lit Quiz Nationals!

Tahuna 1 placed 1st in the Otago Lit Quiz on Friday, securing a spot at the New Zealand Lit Quiz Nationals.

All of our hard work over the past two months paid off on Friday when Tahuna 1 gained 1st place at the Otago Lit Quiz heat.

It was a battle for the last few rounds with Balmacewen hot on our tails, so it was a relief to win in the final section.

Tahuna was dominant early on with all 3 Tahuna teams having the top score for their section after only 4 rounds of the quiz. This was a great effort to stand out early on against 28 other teams.

Team 1 of Ciara Coffey, Alexander Hattrell, Mikayla Lindsay and Iris Feltham will now travel with Miss Brawley to Wellington to compete in the national final on the 26th June this year.

Tahuna 2 and 3 did well to tie for 5th place. It was excellent to have 3 Tahuna teams make up the top 6. 

The Lit Quiz heat has 10 themed sections, with 10 questions in each section. The questions are taken from details in books which have been popular for children - young adults over the past 30 years. Roald Dahl, Charles Dickens and J.K Rowling are regular features.

We would like to thank the parents that provided us with transport on the day.
