Room 16 Learn About Maori Plant Use...

Students thrive on reconnecting with nature the holistic way

Room 16 students got creative and put on their history hats soaking in some traditional medicine methods from our very own native plants.  The main focus was harekeke (flax), where they stripped the fibres and oil from the flax using mussel shells, turning the plant into the texture of horse tail hair.  Then they plaited the strands left and made their own bracelets. some even used the oil to moisturise!! Harekeke has many different uses.......the only limit is your imagination!
