Covid19

Each week, and for the foreseeable future, we will provide a weekly update on the risk of Covid within the school.

One of the hardest things we have all had to deal with in regard to Covid is the constant pivoting of what we have to do to keep ourselves and everyone else safe.  Last week we were busy contact tracing and informing close contacts where as this week, things have been relatively relaxed and we have only been dealing with students who are either a close family contact or have Covid19.

I can not stress this enough but school is a safe place to be.  We have had less than 10 children test positive for Covid19 in the last two weeks and 10-20 students self isolating due to a family member testing positive.  At this stage we have had very little transmission within the school.

We are unable to get into specifics of what classes have Covid19 or the exact number of cases that are in the school as this could be viewed as a breach of privacy.  The advice that we have received is that we should continue to focus on mitigation measures such as maintaining appropriate physical distancing, high hygiene standards and wearing masks.  As always, you and your whānau should be very vigilant about monitoring for symptoms.

It is at times like these our school values come to the fore.  Please talk to your child about Respect.  In this case, it is about showing respect for those who are recovering by demonstrating kindness and compassion.  We have heard and seen a small number of children playing games which have a Covid19 theme.  These games are not appropriate.

Most importantly, we wish all families who are in the process of recovering from Covid19 a speedy recovery!

A full newsletter will be sent out next weekend.  Have a great weekend!

Kind regards

Simon Clarke
