Class placements.

We are beginning the process of putting together the Year 8 classes for 2026.

The current classes are reorganised, and new classes are created. Students will be placed with 1-2 students they have selected, as long as the teacher agrees that the combination is a good one. There are many reasons we do this, but the main two are that the students will get to meet new people with whom they may form a close bond with, and also the Year 8 teacher gets to set their own class culture rather than inheriting one.

We take great care in placements, including listening to your child's requests for friendships, reviewing information from their previous school, consulting with Year 7 teacher recommendations, ensuring a mix of abilities, strengths, and weaknesses in each class, and selecting the best teacher fit.

If you have any specific and special requests for 2026, the time is now to let us know. Please provide a detailed reason for your request. We will consider, but not guarantee, that all requests can be actioned.

Classes will be announced on Wednesday, 28 January. Changing classes at the start of 2026 has a domino effect on other students and teachers, and change is much harder.
