Maori Designs Elective

Year 7 & 8 students have been creating various designs in Term 2, a stunning show of creativity.

In term 2 students have been learning how to illustrate Maori and Polynesian designs into images they draw. Initially we structured the lessons specifically on Maori symbols and learnt about their meanings. Then as students understood how to use the designs, we modernised and utilised styles within Zentangles to help express feeling in their illustrations. 

The class is always fully engaged because they enjoy drawing. Next term this elective will continue, but with the added features of Manga and Anime cartooning as well.
