The Camp Chronicles - The Tramp
By Emma and Harper
On the first day of camp, after loading off the bus and putting our bags down, Room 8 headed off to our first activity, the tramp.
It took place around the edge of the campsite, where the pleasant forest and sloppy mud was waiting to greet us. The aim of the activity was to persevere and get through the course without falling in the mud or getting stuck in the prickly gorse. Needless to say, no one succeeded in fulfilling that last request.
After about an hour, we arrived at an old wooden fort with two levels, each looking out on the beautiful wetlands. This is where we stopped to eat our packed lunches and get our breath back for around twenty minutes. Miss Brawley also took a group photo of the class on the fort.
It took another hour to get back to the campsite to do our other activities, but this time, we took the other route through the less muddy part. This was definitely the more relaxing part of the tramp, because there wasn’t any mud or gorse to worry about getting stuck in your shoes.
In the end we took around one and a half hours to finish the tramp, through mud, gorse, and forest. I think on a whole most of the class had a really fantastic time, and it was a really good way to start the camp off.
