Chemistry Fun in Year 8
Students enjoy both the Tahuna Science Lab and the Otago University lab.
In Science in term 3, year 8's have been studying Chemistry.
In the first experiment in the Tahuna lab we tested mystery substances with an indicator to find out a reaction. We then learned about acid and alkaline. It was a lot of fun finding out why the substances turned different colours.
In the second experiment at the Otago University chemistry lab we looked at Density. This was a lot of fun. We learned how to accurately measure liquids. Towards the end of the lesson Dr Dave Warren lit our hands on fire. Although it was scary, it sure was a lot of fun!
