Helping to make Tahuna one of NZ's Healthiest Schools
By Hannah Pickett
Room 16 is currently participating in the New Zealand’s Healthiest Schools challenge. There are over 40,000 kids participating from schools throughout New Zealand.
It’s a great challenge because it encourages you to exercise. All the students are given their own pedometer to track our steps, how many kilometres we have walked and how many calories we have burned.
At the end of each day we give our number of steps taken to a 'Class Pedometer Monitor', from here the steps the class have taken are totalled and an average amount of class steps is inputted to the challenge website.
The challenge has different legs and we will end up walking all over the ‘virtual’ world. We have already completed legs in NZ and Australia and now we're on the 3rd leg, travelling in Egypt (from Cairo to Luxor).
Personally it has got me moving and I think it’s a great way to get you moving too!
