Cycling

On the first day of Term 4, we started cycling lessons with Bike school. We have lessons once every week for three weeks, and are learning how to bike safer on and off the road and some simple bike skills to help improve our biking technique.

Some techniques for example, are as simple as tilting your bike toward you while getting on your bike to make it easier to get on. To add more onto that, we are learning how to check our gear and adjust it to be safe for us, the gear is items such as your seat, your helmet and your brakes. But the most important thing to help check our bikes was something called ABC. The A stands for air, this was just to remind us to check our tires to make sure they are not flat for us to ride. The B stands for brakes, we needed to check that both our front and back brakes were working before going on the road. The C stood for chain, we had to make sure that our chain was not rusty and could easily move between gears.

The last thing that was not an ABC but is important, was our seats. We needed to check that the seat was not too low nor high, and that we should only be able to touch the ground with our toes.
