Georgie's Cricket Success!

In the holidays, from January 22 - January 26, ex Tahuna student Lucy Houston (now Year 9 at Bayfield) and I (Georgie McEwan) were part of the Dunedin SIPS (South Island Primary Schools) Under 13 cricket team. We competed in a 4 day tournament in Christchurch.

It was a tough competition against teams from all over the South Island, however we managed to win the tournament! Playing with the team was a great experience and it was very exciting when we won. For the past 4 years Canterbury teams have won the tournament so it was great to bring the trophy South. We played 5 games and had a great time out on the field.

In the final Lucy scored 33 runs, bowled someone out and got 2 run outs. In the first game I bowled out 3 players in 4 balls (almost a hat-trick!). I also ran someone out while wicket keeping. My best score with the bat was 25 runs. We also had a lot of fun off the pitch in Christchurch. This tournament was an amazing experience that I loved.

I would like to thank the coach, manager, my teammates, my parents and everyone who helped to make this happen.
