Room 9 Aquabus Experience

Earlier this term, Room 9 were one of the two lucky Tahuna classes to head down to Tainui School to experience the aqua bus. We learnt a lot about our waterways and the importance of looking after them. Read on to hear about what we did or learn some interesting facts!

We touched live sea creatures like star fish, sea cucumbers and crabs in the live touch pool - Alex Sutherland

We learnt about the different water environments that plants and creatures live in. The muddier the water is, the harder it is to see and catch things and harder for fish to live in - Kate Woodley

When starfish get old enough, they can split into two and create two starfish - Reid Leckie

I learnt that cats-eyes can turn themselves over when they are upside down. The faster they turn over the healthier they are - Charlotte Wheeler

We learnt how to test the saltiness of the water using different methods - Olivia Duffy

We learnt about the different environments and what the land and waterways used to look like. There used to be trees everywhere and now there are lots of roads and buildings - Nuku Semisi

We learnt about crabs, different types of crabs and what they eat. They leave their shells when the crabs get too big for them. If they find one that is too big, they carry it around with them until they can fit in it - Natahlia Wilson
