Diving Success

On Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday of last week I attended the NZ Diving Champs. I competed in the Inter-age 12 and 13 year old 1 metre and finished second. I was a bit surprised because I thought I had finished fourth!

I met a lady called Shaye Boddington. Shaye used to dive and was selected to go to the Olympics when she was 16. She didn’t go as she decided to pull out because she had an eating disorder and she felt that being in a swimsuit made it worse. She is now 32 and cured from her eating disorder that made her pull out from the Olympic team and she is back diving. She is going to Budapest next week to compete in the World Championships.

I am now back training as I have been selected in the NZ team that is attending the Pacific School Games in Adelaide in early December. I am trying out new dives and I have now learnt a double sommersault on the 1 metre.
